“We met Mike of Timberlane Builders at a Parade of Homes in 2010. We liked the house he was showing at the time and liked him because he had similar philosophies related to energy efficiency and strategies to achieve such. It also didn’t hurt that he played golf and hunted which helped me connect with him. He showed us some new lots in an area between Verona and Madison and we bought one. Then Mike waited patiently until we finally sold our home in Mazomanie after 5 years. The first major hurdle we faced in starting to build was that Madison changed the zoning codes in 2013 and as a result, the parade home we had chosen in 2010 no longer met those aesthetic related codes. Mike was very helpful as we revised the plan to meet the new codes. Mike was also accommodating in allowing me to do some of the construction myself. For the most part, all of his subs were very professional and good to work with. And Mike made good suggestions related to materials. The original timeline for construction was actually extended by 3 months as the result of various weather related issues. There were also a few problems related to several variations of the plans floating around with all the redesign and that resulted in some misreading of the plans. But we eventually got everything worked out and the project got done. We were able to move in March 15, 2016 and are very happy with the final result. One final note is that Mike’s son, Erik, was very helpful and easy to talk to and work with.”
